Return to Campus

Update to Winter 2022 in-person program delivery

As of March 7, 2022 students will resume the course delivery modality that is currently reflected in your timetable within myStudentCentre with very few exceptions. Your timetable will be updated with changes, where applicable, by February 23, 2022.

Masks

For the remainder of the Winter term, Sheridan requires anyone attending campus to wear a medical mask. For those who do not have their own medical mask, one will be provided at security check-in.

UPDATED VACCINE PROCEDURE

To provide certainty to students and employees, Ontario's 24 colleges, including Sheridan, will maintain a COVID-19 policy for the Winter 2022 Semester.

All community members are required to upload their vaccination records to Synergy Gateway, a secure document management platform that ensures data integrity and security and re-affirms our commitment to our collective responsibility to keeping our campuses safe.

Anyone who does not upload their vaccination records to Synergy will be required to undertake weekly on-campus rapid antigen testing. In the case of employees who have not uploaded, their manager must pre-approve that the employee's duties on-campus are essential Sheridan services prior to attending. Compliance will be closely monitored by Sheridan.

Are you coming to campus this Winter term?

Please note that you will only be allowed on campus by:

  1. Tap your onecard. Tapping your onecard confirms that you have completed and passed the COVID-19 screening on the Sheridan Alert app.
  2. Wear a medical mask or N95 mask. If you don't have your own medical-grade mask, Security will provide one at check-in. Information on obtaining an N95 mask can be found below. Cloth or fabric masks are not allowed because they are not as effective.

Synergy Gateway Vaccination Compliance

All students and employees must upload their vaccination records to a secure platform hosted by Synergy Gateway. Personalized access has been shared through an email sent by helpdesk@synergygateway.com, which may be shown in your inbox as “helpdesk” with a subject line of “Your access to Verified”.

If you did not see the email in your inbox, please check your spam folder. For technical issues please contact Synergy’s help desk directly via synergyhelps.com (online ticketing system).

Please see these two important videos to help you prepare for joining us in person:

Students who have paid their fees for the Winter term, including those eligible to return but haven’t uploaded their vaccine documents or were not attending the Fall term, will receive an email invitation from Synergy to upload their documents.

  • Upload your vaccine documents as soon as possible to Synergy, allowing 3 to 5 business days for issuance of the compliance certificate. Submitting the required documentation as soon as possible reduces the chances of delayed access to campus (your Fall term compliance can be used in the Winter term).

A Quick Guide on using the COVID-19 Vaccination Verification (CVV) System

Vaccines are available through our Health Centre or in the community.

People with a previously approved exemption or those who do not upload their vaccine records on Synergy Gateway will be provided with information on vaccines and required to participate in routine, rapid antigen testing weekly in ordered to attend campus.

Reporting symptoms or a diagnosis to Sheridan

Sheridan is encouraging everyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or who has symptoms consistent with COVID-19 to contact us.
By reporting your diagnosis and symptoms, you are supporting the health, safety and wellness of the Sheridan community. Your reporting can also help Sheridan with additional cleaning efforts and with Sheridan’s communication with the local public health units.

Employees (on Sheridan Central) must also complete COVID-19 online training and an acknowledgement form to confirm completion.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Masks

For the remainder of the Winter term, Sheridan requires anyone attending campus to wear a medical mask. For those who do not have their own medical mask, one will be provided at security check-in.

You are permitted to wear your own medical mask on campus – but please note that cloth masks are not permitted as they are less effective. If you don’t have a mask, one will be provided to you at our designated entrances.

If you are switching to a Sheridan-issued medical mask, you can temporarily remove the mask you wore to campus to switch. During this time, everyone must stand at least two metres apart. The short time when masks are being switched is not considered a significant risk by public health experts.

Masks are always required except when eating or drinking (while maintaining physical distancing). Sheridan provides ASTM-rated (American Society for Testing Materials) medical masks each day at the check-in for those who do not have their own medical masks.

Please see the FAQs for information regarding the use of personally-acquired N95 & KN95 masks.

Eye Protection

Where people will be within two metres of each other for more than a short time (e.g. passing others) eye protection such as a face shield, safety glasses, or safety goggles is recommended.

For information about proper use and care of masks, please see these guidelines from the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Security

Security is on campus 24/7 and people are at the Welcome Desk late into the evening. Security can escort you to your car if needed. Sheridan has 147 emergency phones inside buildings and on the grounds at Trafalgar, Davis and Hazel McCallion. Emergency phones call Security directly and a security guard is sent to the phone’s location in the event of an emergency or immediately upon request. Take a few minutes to program your cell phone with Sheridan Security, 905-815-4044. They can also be reached from any Sheridan landline telephone at extension 4044.

Employees with requests or questions about accessing campus, should contact security@sheridancollege.ca.

Wayfinding Signs

Upon entering, and when on campus, you will see several wall signs and floor decals providing information and restrictions, directing foot traffic in narrow corridors and stairwells (e.g. ‘one way’), and indicating where to line-up and wait for classes, the cafeteria, and printers, etc. These signs are in place to enable physical distancing and for the health and well-being of all Sheridan community members.

Bathrooms and Water Fountains

Please try to use a washroom close to your classroom, office, or lab. You will notice signs showing physical distancing guidelines. Water fountains are available to fill up water bottles.

Parking

Please visit the Parking Updates page on Sheridan Central for the latest information for students and employees about parking on campus. Additional information can also be found on Sheridan’s Parking Services page.

International Students

Sheridan is pleased to welcome international students from across the globe. More information about studying at Sheridan is available here.

Sheridan is on the Government of Canada's Designated Learning Institutions list, with an approved COVID-19 Readiness Plan. This designation confirms our eligibility to welcome international students travelling to Canada.
